ROTC Martinez Scholarhip

The Martinez Scholarship in the amount of $500 is awarded in August of each year by the Museum to a worthy ROTC student at Sam Houston State University. The scholarship is named for Joe and Zenovia Martinez, who operated a restaurant in Huntsville for many years. The scholarship was instituted to honor Sam and Marie Martinez, son and daughter-in-law of Joe and Zenovia Martinez and long time supporters of the HEARTS Museum.

Candidates are nominated by faculty in the Military Science Department at Sam Houston State University, and the winners are selected by Sam and Marie Martinez and a committee from the HEARTS Veterans Museum. The selection is based on need, determination to succeed and academic accomplishments in the military sciences.

The scholarship is funded in part by donations from the Martinez family.
